With all of the buzz around the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga this year, it's easy to forget that there is another highly-competitive race each year that doesn't require long-course training. The USAT Age Group National Championship happens each year in August and the host city rotates from year to year. This year it's in Omaha, NE. Maybe you've been hitting the podium year after year at some of the local or regional races - now is a great time to test yourself against the best in the country. And if you qualified for the first time this year, it's an experience you don't want to miss!
You must qualify for the Olympic Distance Race (check out our blog on how to qualify). One of the advantages of racing at the Age-Group National Championship is you could earn a spot to compete against the best in the world at the Age-Group World Championship race.
Atlanta triathlete Larry Mayse has this to say about racing the National Championship race, I have raced the National events 17 times and it is “A” race excitement for me every time. USAT really puts on a great event at Nationals. From the giant expo and a decked out race venue to the exciting awards ceremony, it’s a top-notch event. There’s only one thing better than Nationals…and that is Worlds.
Check out this video for more inspiration and let us help you get there. We are offering bike transport to age-group nationals this year. Reserve your spot here!
